Renaissance man jay electronica

It has a dozen other Internet channels. DIY, Naked Wine Tasting, Youtube, etc. Once you run a network cable to it no wireless, it runs it s updates, and you re off and watching. Had it for a couple weeks now, and it works and looks great. The only problem I m having is when using it with my harmony one remote, it only seems to have Powertoggle as an option. So turning it on and off with the universal remote can be tricky. But that s not the unit s fault, and I d have bought it anyway. So 5 Stars. First off, let me start by saying this is my second BluRay player. Before this I had the Panasonic DMP-BD30K 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player. That was a bummer. It was slow, and had few streaming options. The Sony BDP-N460 isn t blazing fast or anything, but is a definite improvement over the BD30K, and the loading times are probably in the 30sec-1min range. It work perfectly with my Harmony One, and I can navigate menus with all the features. The remote that it comes with is just OK. Nothing special, but not too horrendous. The streaming features are where this thing shines. It has Netflix, Amazon VoD, Slacker Radio, NPR Radio, Youtube, and an endless variety of various internet video streams. The interface for everything is also intuitive and well thought out. My only qualm with the online streaming was that I had to register for a My Bravia account before setting up Amazon VoD, which my last BluRay player didn t require. The streaming is high-quality, and even the standard definition streams look nice on my TV. The BluRay quality is of course amazing, there is no visible difference in quality over my last BluRay player, it seems that this latest generation of video players has a smaller disparity in image quality. I have it hooked up to my TV with an HDMI cable and to my receiver with an optical cable, and everything is smooth like gravy. Bottom line: for the price it s at, I d say now is a great time to start your BluRay collection, especially with the sweet deals Amazon has been running every now and then. I am an mature man in his upper 60s whom is as a far from a geek as a person can get. Was looking for a Blue-Ray player that would allow for me to access the internet for movies and vidios. This player fits the bill and unlike many rescent purchases this one exceeded expectation. Device works great with DVDs. Blu-rays work perfect as expected. Have not tried Netflix yet as I need to run a CAT-5 cable. I do not know why a wireless receiver was not included in the design, or on any Blu-ray player for that matter. Great product, easy set up, works as advertised. The product is quite good. The only down side of the product are the interfaces for services such as Netflix and Youtube. I was surprised since it s a Sony product, because PS3 has such a user friendly interface for those sites.
